Set up the MyClassroomInvestor simulation for a single class period. Have students select a character, review the character’s investment goal, and construct an initial portfolio by choosing investment products and allocating funds. Ask students to explain how their selections reflect the goal, time horizon, risk tolerance, diversification, and investment costs. Run the simulation, allowing students to observe market changes and respond to selected market events. At designated intervals, have students review and rebalance their portfolios as appropriate. Conclude with a discussion of how their investment decisions affected portfolio performance and progress toward their goals. Emphasize that the simulation evaluates adherence to investing principles, not simply the highest ending portfolio value.

The simulation’s customizable settings and scoring approach are described in the Vanguard walkthrough .Watch the demo here: https://myclassroomeconomy.org/en/invest
